OUR STORY
At Yazh Trailz, we’re driven by a deep commitment to the land and its people. Founded by two passionate mountain bikers Terence Yazzie and Marlena Garcia (MT), our mission is to create exceptional trails that connect people to nature, promote environmental stewardship, and engage communities in a shared love of the outdoors.
Our journey began on the Navajo Nation, where Terence and MT recognized the need for quality trails that would serve both the rising interest in cycling and the local community. Drawing inspiration from Bentonville, Arkansas – known as the mountain biking capital of the world – they shadowed the renowned Trail Blazers/ETHIC team, studied professional trail-building practices, and immersed themselves in the art of sustainable trail creation. The result was the birth of Yazh Trailz – "Yazh" meaning "little one" in Diné, symbolizing our belief that we are all connected to the land, and together, we create trails where people can explore, play, and connect.
Guided by the principle of K’é, which embodies our relationship to each other, the land, and our shared kinship, Yazh Trailz is dedicated to enhancing the trail experience through interactive, thoughtful design and community-driven collaboration. Whether it’s planning new trails, improving existing paths, or adding exciting features for biking and hiking, our goal is to create spaces that invite exploration and foster a sense of belonging.
We invite you to join us on this journey – to help us craft the trails of tomorrow while preserving the beauty of our lands for generations to come
